O’Donoghue welcomes housing grants for older people and people with disabilities Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue said,” I welcome this capital allocation of €2,950,000 for private house grants for older people and people with disabilities in Kerry, announced by Michael Finneran TD Minister for Housing and Local Services. This funding will be administered by Kerry County Council and is a significant increase on last year’s allocation. It will ensure that essential repairs and adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability can be carried out”.
O’Donoghue welcomes decision that Ice Plant will remain open Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue TD said, “ I am very pleased that the staff contracts will be renewed and that the Ice plant in Dingle will remain open. I have made the strongest representations to Minister for the Marine Tony Killeen and Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan about this issue and I am very pleased with the outcome. This is a very important facility for fishermen and for the economy of the town which benefits from foreign fishing vessels using the plant”.
O’Donoghue welcomes over €35 million funding for Local Authority Housing in Kerry Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue TD said,” I welcome this significant funding for local Authority Housing and rental and regeneration scheme allocations in Kerry.
O‘Donoghue welcomes funding for homelessness in Kerry Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue TD said, “I am pleased to welcome this funding of €45,000 under the dormant accounts programme to tackle homelessness in Kerry announced by Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and his colleagues Minister of State John Curran, T.D and Minister of State Michael Finneran TD”.
O’Donoghue welcomes opening of Derrynane House tomorrow 25th April Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue TD said, “I am pleased that this important Heritge House will open immediately. Following my representations to the Office of Public Works Minister Martin Manseragh TD has approved the immediate opening of Derrynane House for the season. Derrynane House will reopen to the public on Saturday 25th April until the end of September from 10.30 am to 6 pm. During October it will open from Wednesday to Sunday and on bank holidays”.
I am delighted to be with you today to formally open Naonraí Áine childcare facility here in Tralee. This purpose built pre-school will no doubt make a difference to the growth and development of the very young people who come here every day.
O’Donoghue welcomes €40,210 funding for Kerry Community and Voluntary Forum Ceann Comhairle John O‘Donoghue said, “ I am pleased that €40,210 is being allocated by the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Mr Michael Kitt, T.D., to Kerry County Council for 2009 to support the work of the Community and Voluntary Forum in Kerry. The forum is an important body which strengthens local democracy and is actively involved in providing training and support for people involved in voluntary activity. They nominate members onto various local government structures such as County Development Boards and other Policy Committees locally”.
I am very pleased to be here with you today to launch this major Triathlon event organised by Sive Rowing club. A triathlon is a demanding course for top athletes where fitness and stamina are put to the test.
O’Donoghue welcomes funding for Kerry to combat litter and graffiti Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue TD said, “ I welcome this funding of €32,000 announced by John Gormley TD Minister for the Environment and Minister of State Kitt to fund Public Education and Awareness Initiatives on Litter and Graffiti. This funding can be used for local media campaigns, clean-ups and primary or secondary school competitions. I am pleased that there is a particular focus on involving schools and young people and on voluntary initiatives carried out by community groups to combat litter and graffiti”.
I am very pleased to be here to launch this exciting new international initiative. South Kerry Development Partnership is taking the lead role in this development which creates links with similar regions in The Netherlands, Belgium, England and Wales.
O'Donoghue welcomes funding for Little Acorns childcare centre in Kilgarvan Ceann Comhairle John O'Donoghue TD said, " I am very pleased that a lottery grant of € 42,000 has been approved for Little Acorns in Kilgarvan by Mary Harney TD Minister for Health and Children".
